Our offered Mercedes-Benz 280 GE (W460.2), finished in Agave Green with black and beige check cloth seats, represents one of the most beautiful and characterful early G-Class examples we have seen in recent years.

Originally registered in July 1980 in Spain, the car spent almost its entire life in the dry climate of the Iberian Peninsula. From 1980 to 1998, it remained in first ownership, before being acquired by its second long-term keeper. The G was garaged and decommissioned in 2007, then carefully recommissioned in 2021, followed by a series of mechanical and cosmetic improvements. A photographic record of the refurbishment is included.

Like nearly every early W460.2, this example shows a few small cosmetic spots at the rear. Ttypical for the model and purely superficial. More importantly, the body and undercarriage remain solid and honest, reflecting careful ownership, a dry-climate history and a proper recommissioning rather than heavy cosmetic restoration.

 

A genuine early G: authentic, unaltered and mechanically well-sorted, not over-restored, not freshly filled to hide imperfections. No unnecessary electrics, no frills. Just manual windows, a 4-speed manual gearbox, and that unmistakable mechanical feel that makes early Gs so special.
